Lady Antebellum

Biography

Lady Antebellum is comprised of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood. Scott, who sings lead and backup, is country singer Linda Davis' daughter, and Kelley is brother to Josh Kelley, a country artist on his own. Charles also sings lead and backup. Haywood is the musician, playing mandolin, piano, and guitar. All members of the group write lyrics.

In 2007, the trio did vocals on "Never Alone," a single by Jim Brickman, and followed that with a Capital record deal. Their first release went all the way to number 3 on the county charts. It was called "Love Don't Live Here." With its success, the group put together a first album, which went platinum.

The debut album also had hits with "Lookin' for a Good Time," and their first number one song, "I Run to You." In August of 2009, the next single, "Need You Now," hit the airwaves and went on to become the title of the second album and their second consecutive #1 single. In January 2010 when "American Honey" was released from the same album, it too became a chart topper.

"Our Kind of Love" became the fourth consecutive #1 single for Lady Antebellum and the third from their second album. In September 2011, "Own the Night" was released as the group's third album.

The Academy of Country Music gave the trio the New Duo or Group Award in 2008, and they also received the Country Music Association's New Artist of the Year the same year. The group took 5 Grammy awards at the 53rd annual event.
